A tradition of innovation
Freudenberg is proud to look back on 150 years of innovation. The Technology Specialist, which is a member of the Freudenberg group, began life as a tannery and made a name for itself early in the last century with a series of innovative products and procedures.
The radial shaft seal ring, or Simmerring®, which was developed by Walther Simmer in 1929, was the first element in what has since become the unique Freudenberg Dichtungs- und Schwingungstechnik range of sealing products. Walther Simmer used leather from the Freudenberg tannery as a sealing lip for the seal ring that bears his name. A large number of highly qualified and dedicated employees today follow the example set by Simmer and work hard to develop innovative products that will benefit the customer. The radial shaft seal with integral sensor function is an example of the sort of innovative products they come up with.
